🌷 When to Visit the Harrison Tulip Festival
A guide to planning the perfect spring visit
One of the most common questions we hear every year is: “When is the best time to visit the Harrison Tulip Festival?”
The short answer is that every week of the festival offers a slightly different experience, as the blooms gradually unfold throughout the spring. Tulips are a living crop and their timing is influenced by weather, temperature, and sunshine — which means nature ultimately decides the exact moment of peak bloom.
To help visitors plan ahead — especially those travelling from farther away — we’ve created this simple bloom guide based on our typical flowering patterns.
April 2 – April 8
Low chance of being open
This is the very beginning of the season and opening depends entirely on early spring weather conditions. While we have opened early in some years, this window is best suited for local visitors who have flexible plans.
April 9 – April 14
Medium to high chance of being open
By mid-April, the fields usually begin coming to life. During the early days of the festival, guests can enjoy the beauty and fragrance of our Hyacinth fields, along with cheerful daffodils that signal the arrival of spring.
These early blooms are best experienced during the first few weeks of the festival, offering a different but equally magical flower experience before the tulips reach their peak.
This can also be a wonderful time to visit if you enjoy smaller crowds and the excitement of the season just beginning.
🌷 April 15 – April 29 🌷
Very high chance of peak bloom
This is typically the best time to visit the Harrison Tulip Festival if you need to plan in advance.
During this window, our fields are most likely to be at their fullest colour, making it the ideal time for visitors planning weekend getaways, flights, and overnight stays.
If you’re traveling from farther away, we generally recommend planning your visit within this peak bloom period. Keep in mind this can be the busiest time to visit so if you have more flexibility you can often find April 9th – 14th to be full bloom but a little less busy. Always watch our field updates to stay posted!
April 30 – May 4
High chance of blooms continuing
Late April and early May can still be a beautiful time to visit. While some early varieties may begin fading, many others continue to bloom, and the fields remain colourful.
Visitors may also enjoy a slightly more relaxed atmosphere as the season begins to wind down.
May 4 – May 10
Low chance
Depending on the spring weather, there may still be flowers blooming into early May. While this period can sometimes bring a final burst of colour, we consider it more of a bonus bloom window rather than a guaranteed peak.
🌷 Plan Your Visit with Flexibility
Because flower timing can vary slightly each year, we created our Any Day Tickets to make planning easier.
With an Any Day Ticket, you can purchase your admission in advance and then choose the date and time that works best for you once the bloom conditions are clear. It’s a flexible way to secure your visit while still letting nature guide your timing.
This option is especially helpful for guests traveling from farther away who want to book flights, accommodations, and travel plans with confidence.
A Festival That Changes Every Week
From fragrant hyacinths and cheerful daffodils early in the season, to the breathtaking colour of peak tulip bloom, every visit to the Harrison Tulip Festival offers something unique.
No matter when you come, you’ll experience the beauty of spring in the Fraser Valley — and we can’t wait to welcome you to the fields.
